Main Task- Happy Valley

ANIMATIC

This is our animatic for our main task, Happy Valley, this gave us a better idea of how we wanted our real opening sequence to look like. For the typography of the animatic we used the font 'cracked' in red on Type Text as we felt that this font would suit out opening sequence because it is distorted and therefore forebodes the events that will soon occur because the red colour also foreshadows death and gore. We also made sure we included the quick shots so that when watching the animatic there is a sense of fast pace and suspense, and consequently this is what we want to do for out real opening sequence. Morover, we also used Ken Burns at 38 seconds because we wanted to portray an upwards tilt of the camera to present how we wanted to show the zombie.

However, when it came to filming our real opening sequence our story line had to be slightly altered from the animatic because we had less actors when it came to filming.

ROUGH EDIT

This is our rough edit of our main task and we were given feedback on how to further improve our opening. The feedback we were given was to make the missing posters at the beginning as still shots because by doing this it would make the sequence look more professional because then the audience would not notice the unsteady camera. Another comment was to make the typography smaller because on this rough edit, the text was quite big and therefore the text may draw the attention of the audience which is not what we wanted because we want the audience to pay attention to the events on screen. Moreover, we were told that our choice of music was perfect because when Laura has just been bitten the fast tempo music begins and therefore it creates suspense and tension.

From watching our rough edit, we wanted to make further improvements. For example, at the beginning when the car drives in, we wanted to speed this up and maybe cut a little because we felt that the it was quite a long shot in terms of duration. Furthermore, we felt that we should remove the zombie hands at the end of the sequence because this spoiled the naturalistic feel we intended, as the zombie hands made the sequence feel unrealistic and fake.
