Our Group Preliminary Task

This is our preliminary task, our task was to have two characters sit opposite each other and have a conversation.
When we were given feedback on our preliminary task, we were complimented on the different shots we used and also the smooth tracking shot. For our tracking shot, we used a computer chair as this provided us with a smooth tracking shot. We were also complimented on our setting because the dark paneled wood and the fireplace made it seem more home like and therefore the setting was well suited for this.  However, there were a few errors with our preliminary task, for example, we did not follow the 180 degree rule because at one point (44s), we filmed on the wrong side of Emma's shoulder. Moreover, in the background, there were a few chairs showing and so therefore this effected the scene because the chairs looked out of place and so this has taught us to pay more attention to every detail in the future.
Also, whilst editing our preliminary task, we found it difficult to make the music flow without any jumps because we wanted the first 20 seconds of the music to be repeated. Therefore, in order to do this, we had to fade in and fade out the music so that the music would sound flawless, also when the characters have their conversation we had to duck down the music so that the conversation was louder than the music.

Preliminary Animatic

Task: Character walks to a door and opens it. Character crosses a room and sits done in a chair opposite another character, with whom she then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue.
Within our preliminary task we must include a shot reverse shot (SRS) between the two characters and also must stick to the 180 degree rule.
This is our preliminary animatic, this gave us an idea of what our final project would look like. We made sure that we included our ideas of the camera angles, shots and movements that we wanted to use. Within our preliminary animatic we were able to see which music would be a perfect suit for our preliminary task and how we could incorporate it into the film. Moreover, in our animatic we used Ken Burns on our storyboard so that we could present which way we wanted the camera to pan, we found this effective because it gave us a clear idea of how we were going to film the final piece.
